Restored Natural Body Care™ is set to launch October 1, 2015 with a line of body butters, body oils, sugar scrubs, lip balms, and lotion bars. The main goal of my company is to make you fall in love with your skin again. As I’ve written before, my skin can be my best friend and my worst enemy. My products have been developed specifically to restore my skin back to its balance. I have picked the ingredients that will pack the biggest punch and have the most impact. Below are the 4 main ingredients that I use:
Shea Butter is the main ingredient for the majority of the products that I make. This is only because it has an impressive make-up and offers awesome benefits for the skin. Shea butter is extracted from the seed of the African shea tree, also known as the karite tree. It has been named the “tree of life” for all of its healing qualities and grows in western and central Africa. It contains all the vitamins we need for healthy skin: vitamins A, C, E, & F. It has a high content of fatty acids (like stearic and oleic acids). Butters that have oleic acid are incredibly moisturizing and help in regenerating our skin. It’s no wonder why it’s the #1 ingredient used in Restored’s products! It also contains linoelic acid which restores the skin’s protective barrier to keep water from evaporating from our skin and reduces flaking and scaling of our skin. Did you know that shea butter also absorbs UV rays so it is a natural sunblock? It has a SPF of only about 6, but still useful for helping to repair dry and chapped skin. You want to use a product with shea butter if you’re looking to repair dry skin, keep skin moisturized by trapping in water, and you want to soothe and protect from sun damage.
Coconut Oil provides the satiny feel and soft texture of our products. The oil is extracted from milled coconut meat that is dried and cold pressed. Coconut oil contains ferulic acid which is an antioxidant that helps with skin aging and helps to protect from sun damage. It penetrates the top layer of our epidermis to soothe itching and inflammation. Similar components of coconut oil can also be found in chocolate and tea, which provide limited antibiotic properties. You want to use a product with coconut oil if you need to protect your skin from chafing and burning. Also, coconut oil is an awesome hair conditioner and provides protection of the hair shaft.
Cocoa Butter provides stability and intense moisture and protection. It’s so good you can eat it! Cocoa butter is extracted from roasted seeds of the Cacao tree. It is one of the components you need to make chocolate, so no wonder it makes body butters and creams that are just as decadent. Cocoa butter is high in Vitamin E, which softens skin. It is extremely stable and provides a barrier on the skin to prevent water loss from our epidermis. Similar to shea butter, it contains oleic acid which provides anti inflammatory qualities and cell regeneration. You want to use a product with cocoa butter if you have particularly dry skin and need a product to work overtime to protect your skin and trap in moisture.
Soybean Oil is the "sneak attack" in our products and does an incredible job at softening skin. It is excellent at penetrating our epidermis and supports our body’s natural process of maintaining moisture in our skin layers. It has a large amount of lineolic acid which is key to maintaining a protective barrier to lock in moisture. It also has antioxidant properties that work to protect from free radicals and protect the skin from aging. You want to use a product with soybean oil if you want to have soft, dewy skin.As you can see, all of these ingredients have been selected because they provide a protective skin barrier, work hard to penetrate the epidermis to soften the skin, and provide relief from sun damage, chapped and dry skin. I’m so excited to share my creations with you starting this year! Stay tuned for updates, information, and behind-the-scenes looks leading up to the launch on October 1st! Sign up here.
